Eight inmates and two deputies were taken to the hospital Tuesday, October 25, after an altercation in the Cook County Jail’s maximum security division.
Several other inmates were treated on scene, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
Officers are investigating the cause of the incident. Some of the inmates suffered puncture wounds, and the two deputies were struck by food trays.
