Christmas Eve shopping in Lynnwood, Washington, went awry when a man was stabbed while trying to intervene in a fight between two men at Alderwood Mall, according to police.
The victim, a male in his mid-30s, was taken to hospital, and his condition was not immediately known. A fight broke out between the suspect, 19, and another teen near a J.C. Penney store when the victim tried to break up the brawl, police said.
“The relationship between the victim and suspect is currently unconfirmed, though initial indications are that they did not know each other prior to the incident,” said Lynnwood Police in a statement.
Sermad Mohamad was at the mall when the incident occurred and shared the video above. He told Storyful that the man seen in the sweatshirt on the ground to the left had started the fight when the other man in the blue shirt pulled a knife, stabbing the victim. Mohamad added that the woman being tackled to the ground appeared to be the mother of one of the suspects.
