This is the disturbing moment police violently tussle with a drug-addled shirtless man in broad daylight.

The scenes unfolded in Sydney’s inner-city Woolloomooloo at 5.40pm on Friday after police received reports a ‘drug-affected’ man was ‘yelling and screaming at passers-by’ and trying to break into cars on Riley St.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the 21-year-old man lashed out when they approached, requiring eight officers with tasers to detain him.

‘Police approached the man in the police vehicle, at which point he attempted to open the door of the police car.’

‘Police got out of their vehicle and the man became very aggressive towards them, rushing towards police. A taser was deployed but had no effect.’

Officers called for backup and it took eight officers to eventually detain the man and take him to Kings Cross Police Station.

The man continued to assault officers after arriving at the station he continued lashing out, leaving one officer with a laceration on his wrist.

The man, who was hospitalised for a laceration to his head suffered during the arrest, is expected to face a string of charges after he is released.

Police allegedly found cannabis in the man’s possession.
